Driving and parking near the Santa Fe Plaza will be a challenge today as the city's biggest tourism weekend enters its final day.
For those headed to the 89th annual Santa Fe Indian Market, the city offers a Park and Ride service as part of its Santa Fe Trails bus system.
From the south of Santa Fe, visitors can catch a bus at Santa Fe Place mall. Park for free behind J.C. Penney at the south end of the parking lot.
From the north side of Santa Fe, park for free at the South Capitol Station off of Cordova Road and St. Francis Drive near Pen Road.
Buses from both directions will drop riders off on West Alameda Street next to the Santa Fe River between Guadalupe and Sandoval streets. The usual boarding area for city buses at the Sheridan Transit Center will remain closed through the weekend.
Today's Park and Ride buses start at 7:45 a.m. and run every half-hour all day. The last buses depart West Alameda Street at 5:45 p.m.
A round-trip pass for adults ages 18-59 costs $2; seniors $1. Children and youth ride free.
Early birds might be able to find parking spaces in the downtown area's public lots and garages. The Sandoval Garage, which has its entrance on West San Francisco Street, has 400 spaces; the underground garage at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center has 500 spaces; and the Railyard garage has 400 spaces. The Water Street lot has 158 spaces, the Archdiocese lots off Cathedral Place and East Alameda have 418 spaces, the Montezuma Lodge lot off Paseo de Peralta has 98 spaces, and the Canyon Road lot has 50 spaces.
