FIESTA SCHEDULE

Today

  • At 6:30 p.m. at St. Francis Auditorium, 107 W. Palace Ave., Andrew Leo Lovato will discuss "The Santa Fe Fiesta: Reflecting the Changing Face of Santa Fe Culture." Tickets are $5; free to the Palace Guard.
  • At 7:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe Opera, Mariachi Extravaganza de Santa Fe featuring Mariachi Vargas. Tickets are $55, $85, $125. Call 986-5900.

Thursday

  • At 2 p.m. at the Lensic Performing Arts Center, 211 W. San Francisco St., Mariachi Matinee. Tickets are $5.
  • At Fort Marcy Park, the burning of Will Shuster's Zozobra. Gates open at 3 p.m., burning begins after dusk. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate. Call 988-1234.

Friday

  • At 6 a.m. at Rosario Chapel, the Pregón de la Fiesta.
  • From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Plaza, arts and crafts/food booths.
  • From 10 a.m. until midnight on the Plaza, live entertainment.
  • At noon, the official opening of Fiesta on the Plaza.
  • At 2 p.m. on the Plaza, Entrada de Don Diego De Vargas.

Saturday

  • From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the Plaza , arts and crafts/food booths.
  • At 9 a.m., Desfiles de Los Niños (Children's Pet Parade)
  • From 10 a.m. until midnight on the Plaza, live entertainment.
  • At 3 p.m., La Merienda (Fashion Show) at the James A. Little Theater. Tickets are $8, $3 under 12, available at the door. Sponsored by La Sociedad Folklorica.
  • At 7 p.m. at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, the Gran Baile/Cuarenta y Cinco. Tickets are $15; $25 a couple.

Sunday

  • From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Plaza, arts and crafts/food booths.
  • At 9:30 a.m., the solemn procession from the Palace of the Governors to the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place.
  • At 10 a.m., the celebration of the Pontifical Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place.
  • At 1 p.m., Desfiles de la Gente: Historical/Hysterical Parade. A grand prize will be awarded to best 400th anniversary-themed float.
  • At 5:30 p.m., closing ceremonies on the Plaza.
  • At 7 p.m., the celebration of a Mass of thanksgiving at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place, followed by a candlelight procession to the Cross of the Martyrs.
