Santa Fe Public Schools has placed a Santa Fe High School automotive-technology teacher on paid administrative leave after the instructor — identified as Abigail Fox — locked an unruly student in an outdoor, cage-like storage unit for about 15 minutes.

Another student in the class video-taped the event on his cell phone. SFPS Superintendent Bobbie Gutierrez confirmed that the event occurred last Friday, Jan. 7th, on the school campus.

Fox reportedly encouraged some of her students to help lock the boy up  after he was acting out in class. Gutierrez said she has no more information to share until both the district and the Santa Fe Police Department complete their investigations.

Fox has been with the district for over 10 years, Gutierrez said.
