Initial reports that the Las Conchas Fire had burned the Pueblo de Cochiti Golf Course turned out to be false Monday.

But Lt. Gov. Dwight Mody said evacuations at Cochiti Lake are still a possibility.

On Monday evening, he planned to meet with staff and officials from other pueblos to talk about an evacuation plan.

"We're taking proactive measures, developing an evacuation plan on and off the reservation, depending on how severe the fire is," Mody said.

The pueblo plans to use its Hahn Center gymnasium as an evacuation center or a command center, as well as the Army Corps of Engineers facility up the road from the pueblo, Cody said.

Mody said the Cerro Grande Fire only sent smoke and ashes to the pueblo 11 years ago. But, he said, "This one, there's an uncomfortable feeling about it. The most concern we have are for the people with health problems, such as asthma."

The pueblo has about 1,100 residents, many of whom are elderly, he said.

On Monday afternoon, part of the road to Cochiti Lake was open only to residents.
