Northeast area

Charette Lakes: Trout fishing on the lower lake was good using spinner/worm combinations, power bait, salmon eggs, worms and Pistol Petes. A few perch were taken by anglers using worms.

Cimarron River: Water flow below Eagle Nest Lake as of Monday was 37 cfs. Trout fishing was good using spinners, scuds, copper john barrs and small bead head pheasant tails.

Clayton Lake: Fishing was slow. There were a few trout and catfish taken by anglers using power bait, homemade dough bait and worms.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair using worms in the north dock area for crappie. Fishing for all other species was slow. We had a report of a 13-pound, 33-inch walleye caught by an angler fishing deep but have no other details.

Coyote Creek: Trout fishing was good using salmon eggs and small spinners.

Eagle Nest Lake: Kokanee snagging was good for anglers working the area between the boat ramps. Fishing for trout was good drifting Platte River specials, worms and power bait. Trout fishing from the bank was fair using power bait, roe sacs and spinners.

Lake Maloya/Lake Alice: Trout fishing at Lake Maloya was good using spoons, power bait, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes. Jim Elam reported catching a limit of 12- to 14-inch trout while fishing the north end of the lake and using a Pistol Pete. Fishing at Lake Alice was slow. The water was murky.

Los Pinos River: Trout fishing was good using salmon eggs, egg patterns, power bait, worms and spinners.

Monastery Lake: Trout fishing was slow to fair using salmon eggs, spinners and Pistol Petes.

Morphy Lake: Trout fishing was very good using woolly buggers and small midges under a bobber. A few fish were also taken on salmon eggs and power bait.

Pecos River: Water flow near the town of Pecos as of Monday morning was 62 cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms, salmon eggs, spinners, caddis, adams and copper john barrs.

Red River: Water flow below the hatchery was 72 cfs. Trout fishing was good using spinners, streamers, copper john barrs and night crawlers.

Rio Grande: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 317 cfs. Trout fishing on the upper river was good using streamers, spinners and night crawlers. Fishing for northern pike near Pilar was good using jerk baits and spinners for pike.

Storrie Lake: Trout fishing was very good using cheese and salmon eggs. Anglers using cheese also caught a few catfish.

Ute Lake: Fishing was fair using live minnows and jigging spoons for walleye. Fishing was fair to good using minnows in the brush in 7 to 10 feet of water for crappie. Fishing was good using liver and night crawlers over baited holes for catfish. Fishing for all other species was slow.

Northwest area

Abiquiú Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using minnows and jigging spoons in 20 to 35 feet of water for walleye. We had no reports on other species.

Animas River: Trout fishing was fair using chamois leeches, egg patterns and worms.

Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú were 242 cfs and 61 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair to good using night crawlers, Pistol Petes and salmon eggs for a mix of brown and rainbow trout. Fishing below Abiquiú was good using worms, spinners and salmon eggs for rainbow trout.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. A few white bass were taken by anglers using imitation minnows and crank baits.

El Vado Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Fenton Lake: Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs, worms, Rooster Tails and power bait.

Heron Lake: Trout fishing from the bank was slow to fair using power bait, salmon eggs and roe sacs. We had no reports from boaters. Anglers are reminded that it is unlawful to possess a kokanee from Oct. 1 through Nov. 13.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers but the lake was recently stocked with rainbow trout.

Jemez Waters: Water flow on the Jemez as of Monday morning was 25 cfs near Jemez Springs. Trout fishing on the Jemez, East Fork, Cebolla and the Guadalupe was fair to good using, caddis, adams, small spinners, copper john barrs and worms.

Navajo Lake: Kokanee snagging was good this past week at the south corner of the dam. Fishing for smallmouth bass was slow, but a few were taken by anglers using tubes and 4-inch worms. A few trout were taken by anglers using roe sacs. We had no reports on other species.

Ramah Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

San Juan: Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 469 cfs. Trout fishing in the Quality Waters was fair to good for anglers using small streamers, bead head pheasant tail nymphs, RS2s, emergers, red annelids, orange sparkle worms and San Juan worms. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using night crawlers, salmon eggs, streamers and spinners.

Santa Cruz Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Catches of the week

Brazos River: On Oct. 10, Seth Kohrs caught and released a 23-inch rainbow trout. He was using a Rapala floating minnow.

Lake Maloya: On Oct. 15, Chuck Valdez of Raton caught a rainbow trout estimated to be between 3 and 5 pounds. He was using a spoon and fishing near the dam.

Chama River: On Oct. 15 below El Vado, Jim Butler of Quemado caught a 20-inch brown trout. He was using a Pistol Pete. On Oct. 18, Philip Lovato of Albuquerque caught a 22-inch brown while using a night crawler. On the same day, Kurt Duerre of Los Alamos caught a 22-inch, 4.25-pound brown. He was using a brook trout colored Rapala.

Storrie Lake: On Saturday, Hector Tercero of Las Vegas caught a 22-inch, 5-pound catfish. He was using Velveeta cheese.

Santa Rosa Lake: On Saturday, Denise Hipp of Albuquerque caught a 4-pound walleye. On the same day, Rick Hipp caught a 5-pound walleye and caught another one Sunday. They were using Rat-L-Traps. On Saturday, Tom Wasson of Albuquerque caught a 3.92-pound largemouth bass. He was using a tube.
