TUESDAY

• Santa Fe-based Architecture 2030 has launched its latest campaign, BYOBlue, urging people to wear blue on Earth Day and call their congressmen to ask for a ban on new coal-fired plants. See www.byoblue.org for information.

• A drumming circle will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at César Chávez Elementary School, 6251 Jaguar Drive. No experience is necessary. Bring a drum, rattle, plastic bucket, pan and sticks. The opening ceremony will be officiated by Concha Garcia-Allen of Azteca Dancers. For information, call Doug Conwell at 467-2526 or e-mail dconwell@sfps.info.

• An Earth Day talk will be presented at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St., in Los Alamos. Geochemist James Conca, co-author of The Geopolitics of Energy: Achieving a Just and Sustainable Energy Distribution by 2040, will lecture at 7 p.m. Call 505-662-0460 for more information.

• Case studies for passive solar homes will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at REI, 1550 Mercantile NE, in Albuquerque. Architect Mark Chalom will give a free talk about passive-solar home design. The event is hosted by the New Mexico Solar Energy Association.

SATURDAY

• The Santa Fe Community Garden Fair will be held at the county fairgrounds, 3229 Rodeo Road. Free talks and demonstrations will be presented from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY

• An Earth Day Festival will be held at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St., in Los Alamos. A bird walk and fire ecology walks are planned. Call 505-662-6460 for more information or visit www.pajaritoeec.org/programs/earthday2008.php.

TODAY-THURSDAY

• The New World Biomass Conference will be held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, 401 Second St. NW. Experts on biomass from around the world will host workshops and presentations. All-day passes, $20, can be purchased at door. For a schedule, see www.newworldbiomass.com.

TUESDAY-SATURDAY

• The EcoCity Conference, held in San Francisco, brings together world leaders in urban planning. See www.ecocityworldsummit.org/index2.html for more information.
