Got a surly teenager? An insolent toddler? A troubled child of any age?

If so, SuperNanny is looking for you.

If your family is blended, ethnic or nontraditional, all the better.

A crew for the ABC network reality-TV show, now shooting its sixth season, will be in New Mexico early next month to interview families.

If you haven't seen SuperNanny, it involves an experienced British nanny, Jo Frost, giving advice to frustrated American parents.

Casting producer Johnny Beechler said that during his Dec. 5-16 visit he will be looking for New Mexico families who might be in need of Frost's help.

Beechler said he'll set up most of the appointments in advance and spend up to half a day with each family in their homes, videotaping their interactions with their children.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5, a Saturday, there will be an open casting call at the Santa Fe Children's Museum, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, for those who have no appointments.

"Believe it or not, it's not like thousands of people end up calling like American Idol or something," Beechler said. "It'll be a select few."

In the past, SuperNanny has focused mostly on younger children — screaming toddlers during potty training, for instance — but now "SuperNanny loves dealing with teen issues," he said.

Beechler said the producers are particularly interested in finding unusual situations — same-sex couples, teen parents, blended families and people from various ethnic groups.

"That's part of the reason were coming to New Mexico," he said. "We definitely want to see the bilingual families and those kind of dual cultures where that's contributing — where it's like Dad is Native American and Mom is Hispanic, serious cultural differences they need to come to agreement on so they can raise the kids together as a joint effort."

Anyone interested can contact Beechler on his cell phone at 614-668-5700 or e-mail him at cast4shows@yahoo.com, sending along a photograph of your family, how many children you have and a short statement about why you need SuperNanny's help.
