Voilà! Here we are at the end of another successful makeover project. Our makeover candidates gamely allowed us to critique every aspect of their style, to put them in outfits they never would have chosen on their own; cut them; color them; and pierce them. Thus spit-shined, we posed them, photographed them and sent them home.

And given that we bought each person only one new outfit and not a whole new wardrobe, all three are likely wearing their old duds by now.

But even as their outsides may be returning to normal, I believe we've changed the way they think about buying and shopping for clothes.

We showed Kathy Byrnes that 50 is way too young to give up on glamour. We taught Phil Cohen he looks better in clothes that actually fit him. And we convinced Paige Kitson to incorporate more color in her wardrobe.

I'm also edified by the fact that we made each and every one of them feel attractive in their own skin for at least one day.

It was hard work, and I couldn't have done it without help from the staff at the Cactus Aveda Salon, 607 Cerrillos Road, and the tireless efforts of fashion stylist Lynne Kudus (www.fashionstylistnm.com).

We also had a lot of fun, but don't take it from me — take it from wild and wacky Paige, who said, "I loved it. I had so much fun. I think it was one of the most hilarious things I've ever done in my whole life."
