Fiesta luncheon at senior centers
The Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center will hold a fiesta luncheon from noon-1 p.m. Thursday at 1121 Alto St.
Mariachi music and the Santa Fe Fiesta Council's 2008 Don Diego de Vargas and his cuadrilla, and La Reina and her princesas will be present.
A second event with the Fiesta Court and mariachis will be at 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday at Pasatiempo Senior Center, 664 Alta Vista St.
Senior Services Fiesta dance
The Division of Senior Services will hold their Annual Fiesta Dance on Thursday, Sept. 4th from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, 833 Early Street. There will be live dance music by the band Camino Oscuro as well as refreshments. Admission is $2 for seniors age 60 and over. Please bring your senior membership card. This dance is sponsored by the Luisa Senior Center.
Volunteer knitting instructor sought
The Division of Senior Services and the students of the class are in search of a volunteer instructor to teach a weekly knitting class. Classes are held on Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center at 1121 Alto St.
If you are interested in this volunteer position, please call Lugi Gonzales at 955-4711.
Calling all bingo players
Villa Consuelo Bingo is held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at 1200 Camino Consuelo St. Proceeds from the games go to support the Senior Center.
Tickets are given to every bingo player when they play the Villa Consuelo Bingo. These tickets will qualify you for a drawing held on the on the last bingo day of every month. The more you play, the better your chances to win a prize.
Senior Services is also seeking volunteers who do not play bingo, to serve as callers at various Bingo games at different centers throughout the week. If you are interested in calling Bingo, please contact Christine Sanchez-Warren at 955-4715.
Senior centers' lunch menu
Monday: Classic pork roast with brown gravy, mixed veggies, corn bread and cottage cheese with apricots
Tuesday: Chicken Cordon Bleu with creamy gravy, buttered spinach, scalloped potatoes, a homemade roll and a fresh apple
Wednesday: Beef brisket with au jus, baked beans, coleslaw, garlic toast and apple crisp
Thursday: Red chile con carne, fried potatoes, mixed veggies, homemade roll and sliced peaches
Friday: Chicken tacos with garnish, Spanish rice, salsa, corn and apricots
