Liz Reese of Nambé Pueblo was mentioned in a recent article in the Yale Daily News about the university's more diverse freshman class. Some 2.7 percent are Native American, a three-fold increase from last year, according to the article. Reese, Class of '11, said she believes the increase is a result of Yale's welcoming of Native students. The university, she said, has moved "leaps and bounds toward making Yale a better place for Native students." One statistic jumps out: The class of 1,307 incoming frosh was selected from 26,003 applicants.

Bill Richardson loves best in New Mexico, and where he goes to eat, chill, ride, check out art or indulge in his fave sport, look in the travel section of the Los Angeles Times on Sept. 27. Travel journalist and locals Judith Fein and photographer Paul Ross hung with Richardson when the governor was off-duty and were able to experience New Mexico through his eyes.

Janet Andrew, a former Santa Fe Desert Chorale singer who now lives in the Chicago area with her husband, Scott Andrew, another chorale veteran, sent a friend here a photo she took in her local grocery store.

Ted Kennedy remembered: The beautiful version of Schubert's Ave Maria sung at Kennedy's funeral last month was by mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, veteran of the Santa Fe Opera, Roswell native and part-time Santa Fe resident. The Grammy-winning opera star performed at President George W. Bush's second inauguration — she, like Bush, grew up in Midland, Texas.

Que Viva! The business luncheon honoring La Fiesta de Santa Fe last week brought out many of Santa Fe's leaders, including Mayor David Coss. Also working with crowd was Asenath Kepler, who is challenging the mayor in his re-election bid.

George Clooney's Men Who Stare at Goats (made in New Mexico) has a release date of Nov. 6.

A special crashing the set of Starz' hit series, Crash — the TV show based on the Oscar-winning movie and filmed in Albuquerque — runs this month on the TV Guide network. InFANity "will collide with cast members like Ross McCall, Tess Harper, Linda Park and Jake McLaughlin and find out everything you want to know plus only we are on location with the one and only Dennis Hopper ... Adrianna Costa gets an exclusive guided tour from Eric Roberts and quizzes the cast on how well they know each other." The show premiered Saturday and runs all this week, including 2 p.m. today our time. Local journalist, film expert and magazine editor Wolf Schneider served as unit publicist for the show.
