Indian Market on the air: Native jewelers Veronica Benally, Fritz Casuse and Cody Sanderson were showcased last week by Relios Jewelry on QVC, the shopping channel. In their debut appearance, their pieces sold out. Relios is the company of Bill and Carolyn Pollack of Albuquerque and a longtime supporter of Santa Fe Indian Market, which is put on by the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts. The arrangement makes some of the finest Native jewelry more broadly available — if you can't drive to Indian Market or the Heard Show in Phoenix, you can flip on QVC or visit CaroynPollack.com, where the designs will be available online for a limited time.

Jane Fonda, in between discussing the joy of her recent run on Broadway and plans to visit the Galapagos Islands with family and friends, earlier this month told David Letterman about her New Mexico trout-fishing exploits during an appearance on his talk show. She bragged about catching a "24-incher" and a "30-incher." "I don't know why but every time I catch a really big fish I think of you," she told Letterman, who said of the Pecos River valley "I've never been in those waters." Fonda scored a Tony award nomination for her recent Broadway turn in 33 Variations.

An extra writes in about her work on Terminator Salvation, with nifty details that she couldn't share until the movie was released. Our extra writes about hours of filming while wet and cold, playing dead on a concrete floor and running through explosions and high-powered winds. About a scene filmed at the Albuquerque railyard in a Hollywood-created rain: "When you see those few moments on the screen, and you see the absolute despair and horror on our faces — that's not acting ... it's real misery."
She has this to say about star Christian Bale, whose famous tirade during the filming of the move went viral on the Internet. "Incidentally, I've worked on a lot of movies. Some actors are very accessible. Actors like Billy Bob Thornton and Jeff Bridges will come up and start talking to you, but one look at Christian Bale you KNEW not to approach him. He is totally in character and totally intense while on set."
Being an extra, she writes, is worth the wet, cold and even a bit of danger. "As extras we don't get paid all that much and we are pretty much the bottom of the food chain on a movie set, and treated as such sometimes, but the reason we do it is we love movies ... With all the exciting scenes we did in Terminator, the one scene I loved the most was filmed inside the Transporter.
"We were to act tired or even asleep as a small bit of dialogue was being filmed between Jane Alexander, Anton Yelchin and a lovely young child. It started out with Miss Alexander reading the lines as written, then there began a back and forth between her and the director. He would suggest something, and she would suggest something ... She instinctively did some gesture so natural and so motherly the scene became so tender and so much better than originally written and (director) McG got so excited ... we love movies and we feel privileged to be part of the magic."
