Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan was out and about in Santa Fe again. This time around, Morgan was shopping at Doodlet's last Sunday after a brunch at the very popular Café Pasqual's. He purchased a skull and crossbones decanter with matching glasses. Interestingly, Morgan was confused with Robert Downey Jr. by folks in the store — an understandable mix-up if you look at their photos, and makes La Mitotera wonder if Morgan, not Downey, was the star spotted recently shopping at Jackalope. Hmmm ...

Morgan is in the state to film Invasion of Privacy with Oscar-winner Hilary Swank, and played Denny Duquette on Gray's Anatomy.

Taking in Man-Ram: Actor Jason Bateman, in town filming Simon Pegg's comedy, Paul, was sitting in a luxury suite last Wednesday to watch Dodger Manny Ramirez bat for the Isotopes on his way back to the majors after a 50-game suspension. Despite the fancy digs, Bateman had a beer or two and talked baseball just like a regular guy.

The Taos News' summer guide is out, with a tidbit about Julia Roberts tucked away in an editor's note. The Taos-area actor and resident (part-time, anyway) has a new favorite sushi place in Arroyo Seco, Hiro Hobo. She was seen dining there earlier this spring, evidently home for a break after promotions for Duplicity, her thriller with Clive Owen. The star's recent appearance on David Letterman (June 9) helped the gap-toothed comic beat The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien in the ratings for the first time.

Also from The Taos News, actor and artist Dean Stockwell talks about his favorite place to hang in the July Enchanted Homes magazine. He likes Ogelvies on the Plaza, because, it "overlooks my favorite plaza in the world. I love the idea of a plaza being the center or heart of a community and that's what this plaza is. It hasn't changed appreciably since 1964 when I first came here."

Made-in-New-Mexico (or at least-finished-in-New-Mexico) Year One finished a disappointing fourth in the weekend box-office rankings last weekend. During the filming, locals recall seeing stars Jack Black and Michael Cera in Roman-era costumes at De Vargas Center, where some of the film's work was done. More promising for New Mexico's movie brand is this weekend's debut of the latest Transformers, which broke the box-office record for a Wednesday, earning $55 million in one day. We'll find out today whether the new Transformers beats Spider-Man 2 as the highest-grossing Wednesday-to-Sunday opening ever by topping $152.4 million. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.

New Mexico Red Sox Nation Gov. Philip Vander Wolk, with Santa Fe Properties, recently returned from Boston where he participated at Governors' Night at Fenway Park. Some 37 of the 50 governors attended, and they got to explore the stadium, take part in a promotion video and watch batting practice. Before the June 16 game, the governors even took the to field for a pre-game ceremony in front of 40,000 fans.

Even better for fans, the Red Sox beat the Florida Marlins 8-2. As governor, Vander Wolk also is hosting monthly viewing parties of the Sox. Learn more by e-mailing PVanderWolk@SantaFeProperties.com.
