New Mexico on air: Los Martinezes, the Albuquerque family who got a new home courtesy of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, will be featured at 6 p.m. Sunday on KOAT-7 in a two-hour version of the popular show. Watch for Santa Fe in the episode, since crews from the show spent a decent amount of time filming here in January.

Star shopper: The old Christine (as well as the old, and beloved Elaine from Seinfield), Julia Louis-Dreyfus shopped a week ago Saturday at the Museum of International Folk Art. She and her group had gone through the museum and were in the lobby when Julia shouted that she had found a "great store." Among her purchases: an African-made telephone wire basket. All her buys were shipped home — and the Emmy-winning star was friendly and pleasant throughout. Her CBS show, The New Adventures of the Old Christine, airs on Monday nights.

On the town: Kate Walsh (Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy) is in town filming Legion. And she's not wasting any time enjoying Santa Fe — last week, she was spotted one night at Santacafé, and the next eating out at Vanessie's. After the Vanessie's dinner (complete with a bottle of Opus, a Napa Valley Red), she and two friends hung out at the bar and listened to singer/pianist Michael Gott. (Check him out at www.michaelgott.com).

Working out: While hubby Paul Bettany works away, also in Legion, Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, Blood Diamond) is enjoying Santa Fe. She and her better half worked out together last week in the gym at one of our town's better addresses. Next out for Connelly, a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, co-starring Keanu Reeves.

Badge of honor: It's become customary for Sheriff Greg Solano to welcome honorary deputies to the force when celebs are in town. From a recent sheriff's blog, we see that Solano has added Ted Nugent, Toby Keith and Rodney Carrington to the list. The three were in town filming the recently completed Beer for My Horses. They joined such luminaries as Burt Reynolds, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock as honorary deputies. Nugent later called Solano's cell phone to express prayers for wounded deputy Robert Shepperd of Lincoln County and said when he returns to the state, he'd like to visit the injured officer. You can read the sheriff's reflections at http://sheriffgregsolano.blogspot.com/.

Mentioned: Melissa Pickett, an eco-therapist in Santa Fe, was quoted in a Foxnews.com story about greenies who worry too much about the environment. According to the story, she tells them to "chill," adding that, "The global-warming craze will cause your clients to go into extremism fueled by fear."

On the beat: Many Santa Feans might not know this, but they have one of their neighbors to thank for one of the most successful magazines in publishing history — People. Santa Fe's Richard Stolley was founding managing editor and ran the magazine from 1974 to 1982. He's back in People again, The New York Times reported last week. Stolley has been writing short features, including an interview with another notable Santa Fean, ex-CIA spy Valerie Plame.

"I don't have to interview the head of state to enjoy what I'm doing," Stolley told The Times. "Reporting, to me, and the writing, in particular, is a joy in itself." For stories more close to home, Stolley also writes about Santa Fe issues for http://santafe.com.
