Speaking of Joan Allen: The actor took time out from filming to talk to folks back at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill., where she went to college. She was interviewed by telephone by Illinois movie critic Dann Gire for the EmbarrasValley Film Festival (Allen was this year's festival honoree). She updated film fans in Illinois about her work (as Georgia O'Keeffe) during the interview. "There is a lot of work to be done," she said. "I'm very happy to be playing this iconic artist."

The yearly festival highlights a famous entertainer who attended Eastern, according to the Daily Eastern News. Gire, president of the Chicago Film Critics Association, said of Allen: "This is the first person who wasn't dead or interred who has been honored." Her first production at Eastern, back in 1974, was as Nurse Ratchett in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
