For the period ending Dec. 18. Call the New Mexico Environment Department at 505-827-1840 to file a complaint.

ALLSUPS, 305 N. Guadalupe St. Cited for high-risk violations for employees consuming food in food-prep areas, ware-wash sink directly connected to drainage system and use of non-EPA-registered bleach. Cited for moderate-level violations for improper sanitizing and failure to monitor food temperatures. Cited for low-risk violations for an opening in the ceiling above the ice machine and ware wash sink, items stored on floor of walk-in cooler and freezer, and no hair restraint in use. Some violations were corrected during inspection.

NEW DELHI GRILL, 52 Old Las Vegas Highway. Cited for high-risk violations for improper storage of ice scoop, using cloth towels for hand drying and storing toxic materials next to utensils. Cited for moderate-risk violations for difficult-to-clean foam padding on buffet table, no sanitizer test strips, storing first-aid kit with utensils and containers. Cited for low-risk violations for storing mop and bucket in kitchen, unprotected lights above buffet food items, disposable utensils subject to contamination, and failure to have a self-closing door on employee restroom. Some violations corrected during inspection.

THE HOLLAR, 2849 N.M. 14, Madrid. Cited for moderate-risk violations for leaking faucets and unlabeled containers in the kitchen.

SUBWAY, 7 Caliente Road. Cited for moderate-risk violation for uncleaned tomato slicer. Cited for low-risk violation for nonworking light in walk-in freezer.

DAIRY QUEEN, 4250 Cerrillos Road. Cited for moderate-risk violation for lack of a food-grade thermometer.

The art of Helen HardinThe story goes that in the 1970s, Indian artists Helen Hardin and Fritz Scholder had words. What prompted the exchange is not known, but allegedly Hardin quipped that if her colleague got punched in the nose and it started to bleed, he would lose his Indian blood in five minutes. If the tale is true, this was quite a verbal TKO for someone who was not a full-blooded Indian herself. One of Hardin's parents was Anglo, the other a member of Santa Clara Pueblo.
