Anxiety/Compulsions

Anxiety and Panic Seminar: For those looking for the latest treatments for the most prevalent problems of our time, along with how to control the basic cause: worry. Presented by Richard C. Recovery Inc. : A free self-help group, not a 12-step program, for those suffering from anxiety, depression, panic attacks, anger and nervousness. Meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays at Temple Beth Shalom, 205 E. Barcelona Road, in the classroom with the blue door. Call 988-2748.

Benzodiazepine

Benzohelp of Albuquerque: At 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month, a group will meet in the Fellowship Hall of the Sombra Del Monte Christian, 2528 Utah St. N.E. in Albuquerque. The group is for anyone in active benzodiazepine withdrawl, or who is experiencing distressing withdrawl symptoms while attempting to get off of benzodiazepine medication —  typically prescribed for anxiety, seizure and sleep disorders; a few examples of benzodiazepines are Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, Dalmane, Restoril and Halcion. Bladder

Shy Bladder Support Group: Shy bladder syndrome, or paruresis, is a  condition where one has trouble urinating in the presence of others.  Support groups allow sufferers to safely communicate and overcome the  condition. More at www.shybladdersantafe.org.
Brain injury

BRAIN INJURY SANTA FE: Group for people who have sustained brain injuries because of trauma, stroke, aneurysm, tumor, disease or other neurological incidents. The group offers support, friendship, information, discussion, socializing and encouragement. Meets from 3 to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month in the second floor hearing rooms of the Toney Anaya Building, 2550 Cerrillos Road. Cancer

Prostate Cancer Support Group: Fourth Wednesdays: Noon to 1:30 p.m. Facilitated by Bob Mallin, M.D. St. Vincent Cancer Treatment Conference Room. Call 466-4242.

Surviving Sisters: Cancer support group for women living with cancer —  whether newly diagnosed, in treatment or recovering from treatment — meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Call Mary at 670-7508.

Cancer Institute Foundation: Offers free, facilitated support groups for patients and families, including the following groups: Cancer Support Group for anyone with a cancer diagnosis. The group meets from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Call 955-7956.Caregivers’ Support Group for people providing emotional and physical care for a loved one with cancer. The group meets from 5 to 6 p.m on the first Wednesday of each month.  Call 955-7956.

Later Stage Cancer Support Group for those dealing with the challenges of a later stage or recurrent cancer diagnosis.  This group meets weekly.  Call 955-7956. Caregivers

Kingston Residence of Santa Fe: An ongoing support group for caregivers of those with Alzheimers disease meets from 4 to 5 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Kingston.  The group is facilitated by Mary Yamada, memory care director. Christian 12-step

Electrical Hyper-Sensitivity

Grief support

LoSS: "LoSS of Someone Special" is a grief support group meets upstairs at the Santa Fe Main Library, 145  Washington St.  Parking is free on the first Sunday of every month.  This is free and open to anyone wanting  to learn how to cope with their grief.

Man Kind Project

Many Mothers: A Santa Fe nonprofit offers free in-home care to a new mother for the first three months after giving birth. Practical, educational and emotional
support is provided by experienced volunteers. This service helps a new mom,
who may feel exhausted and overwhelmed, become empowered to meet the daily
challenges of raising her family and form the vital bond with her child. For

Last Drag: A free quit smoking class for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex smokers. Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse: Is addiction taking over your life or that of someone you love? Compassionate Healing can help. Free weekly psychological, educational support groups for those affected by substance abuse are facilitated by Andrea Michelle. The group for adolescent boys (13 to 18 years old) who are substance abusers meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Mondays. The groups for families of a substance abuser meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. Suicide Support

TOPS

Take Off Pounds Sensivly: (TOPS) is a nonprofit weight-loss support group for people of all ages, sexes and weights,  with  low membership fees. Current meetings are Wednesdays at White Rock Presbyterian Church, 310 Rover Blvd., next door to Rover Park.
