Beginning Saturday, the Santa Fe Farmers Market will open at 8 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. The market continues in the Santa Fe Railyard, 1607 Paseo de Peralta (at S. Guadalupe Street) every Tuesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through the end of October. The Thursday afternoon Southside Market is closed for the season.

On another note, a recently opened show of egg-tempera paintings of Northern New Mexico farmers, their products and their animals at Selby Fleetwood Gallery, 600 Canyon Road, was inspired by market vendors.

Artist Miranda Gray first visited the Santa Fe Farmers Market in search of organic eggs to use in her work. What she found was not only the perfect medium for her new work in egg tempera, but also a totally new subject matter.

There will be two receptions for Gray's exhibition. The first is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening. The second is schedule for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, a time chosen so that the farmers may attend the exhibit after the Saturday market closes.

For information about Gray's exhibit, call Selby Fleetwood Gallery at 992-8877.
