Feast benefits homeless shelter
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church (231 E. Cordova Road) hosts its fifth annual International Feast. The fundraiser, which in the past has benefited church programs, will this year share proceeds with St. Elizabeth's Shelter.
Featured main dishes include Ukrainian pierogis and halupkis (potato-stuffed dumplings and stuffed cabbage); Egyptian lamb, hummus and tabbouleh; and Hungarian vegetable soup with Irish brown bread. Prices range from $6 to $12 per plate. Coffee and desserts are available à la carte.
Visitors can dine in with live music, folk art and iconography demonstrations or — new this year — call ahead for curbside take-out. While organizers would prefer take-out orders be placed before Saturday, they will accept last minute orders if supplies allow.
For more information, or to pre-order some food, call Martha at 699-9183.
Galisteo Inn's restaurant reopens
La Mancha, the restaurant at the Galisteo Inn (9 La Vega, Galisteo), reopened for dinner last week after a month's hiatus. For the remainder of the winter and early spring, dinner will be served from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Menu highlights include a wild mushroom bisque with truffle relish, braised lamb shanks from nearby Talus Wind Ranch, Niman Ranch pork schnitzel (cutlet), Friend's Ranch blood oranges and tangerines in ginger-cardamom syrup and an artisan cheese plate. And you can still get a world-class burger and carne asada fries at La Cantina (serving from 5 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday).
Sunday brunch offerings (11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) run the gamut from the burger to huevos rancheros to pancakes and eggs Benedict with a red chile kick.

Pantry celebrates a milestone
The Pantry restaurant — which has been in the same location (1820 Cerrillos Road) since 1948 — turns 60 this year.
According to a recent news release, "when the Pantry served its first bowl of red or green, the average home in Santa Fe cost $7,700 and you could buy a gallon of gas for only 14 cents."
Times have changed, owner Stan Singley says, but The Pantry has not. The local favorite will be celebrating its birthday all year, the release says, with an occasional special "roll-back price" and a vow to continue the tradition of good, made-from-scratch food at reasonable prices.
