Farmers market film series continues
Film five of the series,
Who Killed the Electric Car?
, explores the demise of General Motors' EV1 electric car in the face of shrinking profit margins for makers of standard gasoline-fueled vehicles.
At the same time GM head Rick Wagoner leaves his post at the behest of President Barack Obama, greener modes of transportation have been thrust into the spotlight.
After the 90-minute film, which starts at 7 p.m. today, a former GM representative and Santa Fe-area biofuel experts will answer questions.
The film will be shown at New Mexico Film Museum, 418 Montezuma Ave. The cost is $12; institute members, farmers and seniors $10; under 18, $6. Call 983-7726 for details.
'Food for Thought' brunch scheduled
Camino de Paz Montessori School & Farm in Santa Cruz will host its third-annual fundraising event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in an outdoor farm setting with live marimba music by participating students.
Joe's Diner proprietor and Farm to Restaurant Dedication Award recipient Roland Richter will help prepare the feast. Tickets are $50 per person, $90 per couple and $20 for children ages 6-12. Table discounts are also available.

Enjoy a night of chocolate fantasy
Eldorado Hotel hosts a dinner, auction and raffle to benefit the Santa Fe Children's Museum; Señor Murphy Candymaker will provide the chocolate. Dinner starts at
6 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $150 per person. For tickets call 989-8359, ext. 103.
Raffle tickets cost $20 each, or three for $50, and are available at the Santa Fe Children's Museum shop.
Meet the chef
Inn of the Anasazi chef Oliver Ridgeway announces his "Community Table," a five-course dinner with a focus on fresh local ingredients. Dinners, which take place every Friday at 7 p.m., run $65 per person or $100 with wines.

Empty Bowls artists needed
The Food Depot, which will present its 10th annual soup-tasting and slient-auction fundraiser May 10 at La Fonda, is looking for potters to provide soup bowls for the event. To donate a bowl, contact Sherry Hooper at 461-1633, ext. 10, or drop bowls off at 1222 Siler Road.
'Sabor' and sustainability
The New Mexico Dietetic Association will host its annual meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday at Seasons Rotisserie & Grill (2031 Mountain Road N.W., Old Town Albuquerque, 505-766-5100). This year, nutrition and food-policy experts join agricultural specialists and others to discuss sustainability in restaurants, community action and native practices.
Seasons chef Mike Von Blomberg and Savoy chef Bob Paterson will present a demonstration featuring locally farmed produce. Monte Skarsgaard of Los Poblanos Organics will discuss local farming.
