Here's an update on some the re-launch of SantaFeNewMexican.com:
A lot of work has been going toward the classified section of the site to improve its search capabilities. Until the improvements are in place, we are routing folks to our old classified system.
You can find full obituaries and classified ads in the enewmexican.com version. You can also search issues published in the last 30 days. Access to the electronic replica is always free to print subscribers and electronic-only subscriptions are also available.
A recently introduced feature allows you to now add the Latest News column (on the upper right-hand side of the home page) to your own Web site or Google home page. Click on the get and share button at the bottom of the Latest News column.
Here are some updates on the transition:
* A feature that several people have inquired about, a page of recent comments is in its final testing phase and available for all to use. Participate in its testing by visitng
http://www.santafenewmexican.com/recentcomments/ .
* Some folks have reported difficulty viewing some special characters in the daily e-mail when using Microsoft Outlook. We are working on the issue which is related to character encoding. Setting character encoding to Unicode while viewing the daily e-mail has worked for many people. More work is in progress to deliver the e-mail so that it presents better in G-mail.
* Obituaries: We have launched an online obituary service powered by Legacy.com. Obituaries are automatically updated each day. You can also leave messages for loved ones as part of the new service.
* Login and comments: Some folks using the Apple Web browser Safari will need to set their browser to accept cookies from SantaFeNewMexican.com in order to stay logged-in and comment on articles. If you are concerned about privacy, note that after accepting the site's cookies, you can restrict cookie acceptance for up to a month and still use the commenting system.
