LANL subcontracts given

Six small businesses are receiving subcontracts totaling up to $200 million for providing architectural and engineering services to Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The small businesses receiving the subcontracts from Los Alamos National Security LLC are Lopez Engineering Inc.; Merrick & Co.; Mosaic-STC, A Joint Venture; Prof-essional Project Service Inc.; Vigil Enterprises Inc.; and Weidlinger-Navarro Northern New Mexico Joint Venture.

These six small businesses represent 41 firms, both large and small, that teamed to compete for architecture and engineering contract work. Three of the businesses are in Northern New Mexico while the other three have roots in the region. The subcontracts, which run five years, call for the companies to augment in-house design engineering capabilities at the laboratory.

El Rey Inn becomes 'Trail Host'

Santa Fe's El Rey Inn has become a "Trail Host" for the Old Spanish Trail Association to help bring OSTA-related information and events to the area.

Terrell White, longtime owner of the inn, says OSTA recently launched its Trail Host program as a way of working closely with businesses near the Old Spanish Trail, which ran between Santa Fe and Los Angeles. Largely because the Old Spanish Trail was only designated by Congress in 2002 as the 15th national historic trail, many Santa Fe residents are just beginning to be aware that it exists and that it differs from the Santa Fe and Camino Real trails.

The OSTA Trail Host program will help facilitate public events such as lectures, tours, demonstrations and historical re-enactment.
