Short-term rental dispute still brewing
Kokopelli Property Management, the largest property management team in Northern New Mexico, is taking the lead in a dispute homeowners have with the city of Santa Fe over short-term rentals.
"We have a commitment to issues affecting the Santa Fe rental market for both properties we manage as well as for other property owners who paid a permit fee in 2008. That fee required payment of $1,000 for a short-term rental permit," Charles Goodman, CEO of Kokopelli, said in a statement.
Goodman was the lead plaintiff in the case challenging the fee. A local judge upheld the ordinance, but ordered the city to reconsider the cost of permits, which is yet to happen. City Attorney Frank Katz said Monday the City Council could consider the issue by the end of the month.
Kokopelli is inviting homeowners to participate in its efforts to have the fee lowered and to get refunds for the hundreds of homeowners who paid the $1,000 fee.

Affordable housing focus of dialogue

The goal of the dialogue is to create a set of collaborative and effective policy solutions to address work force housing in Santa Fe, a statement said.
Key stakeholders, which will include representatives from Santa Fe city and county government, state government, police, fire and educators, will be encouraged to help develop and implement innovative housing affordability policy solutions for the community.
